Help Tewodros finish his cancer treatment in Addis.
Tewodros is 67. In March 2025, doctors at Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa diagnosed him with stage III non-small-cell lung cancer. He has finished four of six rounds of chemotherapy. His daughter Sara, a primary-school teacher, can no longer cover the remaining two rounds on her own salary.
Tewodros was himself a primary-school teacher in Mekele for thirty-eight years. He taught more than 4,000 students before retiring in 2018. Many of them are now in the diaspora, and many of them remember him as the teacher who walked them home through the rain.
This fundraiser covers the next round of chemotherapy, the imaging, and bus fare from his rural home to the city. Every dollar is paid directly to the hospital pharmacy.
